Blast! Fitness is reportedly charging people who had previously cancelled memberships with Bally's for annual fees. They have apparently also falsely claimed that former Bally's members who transfer those memberships to Blast premium memberships will not be charged the annual fee until the next year of contract to get those people to transfer. Then once they have transferred, they suddenly bill for the annual fee. This would seem to be bait and switch.
A discussion group has been opened on Facebook for people who have fallen prey to what seem to be unethical business practices by Blast. https://www.facebook.com/groups/428596363849948/
There are numerous reviews on yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/blast-fitness-fresno-3
Refund the charges to all the people they have lied to about membership transfers, and refund the charges to anyone whose former Bally's membership was already cancelled. Quit giving the run around to customers trying to communicate in good faith, get a REAL customer service department instead of a useless and ineffective third party company, stop charging "final month dues" to people because the process is prolonged due to Blasts inefficiency, and stop threatening to, an do not, send people to collections for charges caused by unfair policies and bait and switch tactics. Improve customer service and clear communication to avoid misunderstandings and miscommunication, and further, to avoid unnecessary charges to people who would not normally, with adequate information, agree to those charges.
I contacted Blast! Fitness and informed them of your gripe. Hopefully they'll be in touch soon. Best, Kim (Gripe Support Team)
Aug 1 2012I never had a contract with Bally's, mine was a month to month membership which I cancelled in order to join 24 hour fitness. I am now being harrassed by Blast Fitness for membership fees for a membership I don't have and contract fees for a contract I don't have. I have talked to them, written to them and still no resolution. It is time to hire an attorney.
