What Happened

I had booked a flight for my in-laws from Bangalore, India to Newark, NJ connecting via Mumbai, India. The flight from Bangalore to Mumbai was delayed by 40 mins and continental closed the boarding an hour earlier for the flight to Newark. When contacted about the missed connecting flight the representative tells me that I have to pay a penalty to change the flight as the other airline wasn't a partner airline and continental just buys tickets from them. Now with my in laws stranded on Mumbai have no help and continental is least bothered to rebook their flights.

What It Would Take to Resolve This

I need a compensation in terms of an open return ticket to India within the next year.

    After numerous phone calls to continental and the partner airline (kingfisher) they rebooked the tickets for the next day. Thank you gripe for your help and assistance.
